How did you two meet?
Haylie: “Ben always comes up with an elaborate story about how I approached him in the library at App State and hit on him with some cheesy pick-up line. In reality, we matched on Tinder! (Twice, actually!) Once when I first got the app. We talked but then I ended up deleting the app. Flash forward a few months later, I re-downloaded the app and we matched again. We went on our first date that week. It was fate.”
What was it like early in your relationship?
Haylie: “It was full of major butterflies! I loved being around him and he has always made me laugh! However, it was difficult at the time because we had a long-distance relationship for the first year. I probably put about 30K miles on my car so I could see him every chance I could! Worth it.”

Name one thing you love about each other.
Haylie: “I love love love how weird we can be with each other. We have so many silly inside jokes and weird voices that we do and he makes me laugh like no one else can.”
Ben: “I love her sense of humor. I love that we dream together. I love that we are the best of friends.
“Little did I know about 3 seconds later when he pulled out the most beautiful engagement ring, my life would change forever!”
How did he propose?
Haylie: “He proposed on the top of the Sky Garden Tower in London! It was so romantic and overwhelming. We were on the balcony looking out at the cityscape when all of a sudden he is down on one knee getting in the backpack mumbling about how he ‘got me something’ and he pulled out a bag of chips and I thought that was the gift! Little did I know about 3 seconds later when he pulled out the most beautiful engagement ring, my life would change forever! We celebrated with expensive glasses of champagne!”
What’s next for the two of you?
Haylie: “We hope to continue to build our respective businesses and travel as much as we can! Kids are in the future for us and we want to get as much traveling in as possible! We are hoping to go back to London in the Spring of 2019.”
Tell me any funny story involving the two of you.
Haylie: “When I first moved to Burlington, aside from Ben’s family, we didn’t have ANY friends. So, we ended up making friends with the employees at Harris Teeter and Aldi because we were in there so often. We are still friends with most of them to this day, 3 years later!”
