WELCOME TO THE BLOG

Morgan Harris Design

I had the pleasure of spending time with this amazing artist and friend back in June to photograph her latest adventure, the launch of her new creative business – Morgan Harris Fine Art Design. To let me describe her business and art would not do it justice so I have invited her to give us insight into her inspirations, thoughts and ideas. You can also check out her brand new website HERE.

“…oil paint will produce the most beautiful textures & depth.”

What is your favorite medium to use in your art and why?

Morgan: “As a professionally trained artist, I try not to limit myself to just one medium. However, if I had to pick just one, it’d be oil paint. I love the thick, slow-drying quality that allows me to edit mistakes as many times as I need to (cause Lord knows I make mistakes!) If you’ve never worked with oil paint before, then the entire painting process would be rather unusual than that of acrylic or watercolor paint. It’s messy, it’s more expensive and it requires more effort, BUT, if you can deal with that, then oil paint will produce the most beautiful textures and depth.”

What type of work do you enjoy creating most and why?

Morgan: “While in college, I discovered my love for landscapes. I grew up in the small town of Jonesville NC. From my backyard, I had access to the most beautiful mountain view in all of Yadkin County (totally unbiased!) Because I was surrounded by mountains growing up, it fostered my love for nature. I seek to visit new hiking trails, mountain ranges and fields because that is when I am most inspired to paint! No joke, it’s like an adrenaline rush.”

“It brings me absolute joy to create for others.”

Who or what do you draw creative inspiration from?

Morgan: “I can draw inspiration from anything. Obviously, I LOVE landscapes but so many other things inspire me. I’m obsessed with interior design/decorating so I sometimes like to create paintings that could work well in a space. Overall, my paintings create a very calming feeling so I like to think they would set a harmonious mood for any room. I also draw inspiration from my clients. It brings me absolute joy to create for others. I’ve received several commission requests over the past year, all uniquely different. When I can make others happy, that is joy enough for me!”

Morgan: “I feel blessed and completely honored to be doing what I’m doing. Although I am still a small business, I thank God that He has allowed me to do this. As I mentioned before, I get pure joy out of creating for others and I would never be where I am if it weren’t for my husband, my family, and my clients. For anyone who is looking for that perfect piece of art, I know someone who would love to help (**insert hand-raising emoji). I offer a plethora of services (painting, illustrating, and hand-lettering/calligraphy). I will put in every ounce of creativity and love into whatever I do, this is my promise to you!”
